A sustainable conference

Like most human activities, scientific conferences have a negative impact on our environment, no matter how virtuously they are organized. However, we can limit this impact by adopting certain strategic measures, in line with the current trend to adapt research practices to the needs of a sustainable world.

For a sustainable CHRONOS 15, we plan to take the following actions:

  • To propose a part of the conference in hybrid mode, which will allow for travel-free participation (including for invited speakers).
  • To encourage participants who will be traveling to Toulouse to use green transportation modes that minimize carbon emissions (thus favoring trains over flights/personal vehicles whenever possible).
  • To encourage participants who will be flying to Toulouse to colocate their participation to CHRONOS 15 with a research visit in a Toulouse laboratory or a nearby one.
  • To propose vegetarian food at every meal, limiting non-vegetarian food as much as possible, to choose local organic products, to avoid disposable tableware whenever possible.
  • To reduce to a minimum the purchase of material to be distributed to participants.
  • To propose hotels and other accommodation facilities that are committed to reduce their carbon footprints.
  • To calculate and communicate the carbon footprint of the conference.
